I checked my bank account today and saw I had a nice £40 DD charged by Aditus. I did a little research turns out some magazine trials I took out a few months ago were offered by them ( I cancelled all the trials so I did one thing right). I've had severe depression for a most of this year and with that a tendency to not think things through. Giving out bank details over the phone is a little dumb if I do say so.
Anyway is there any way I can get my money back from this scamming bunch as I get the feeling asking nicely won't work. I'd rather see if there's anything I can do before I waste my time with threats.

Provided the company had no valid authority to take the £40 payment by DD, then you can get your bank to refund your money immediately via the Direct Debit Guarantee.
If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society [My emphasis]

I suggest you first check that you have good evidence to show that the company had no authority to take the payment before invoking the DD Guarantee.0
