Home insurance and gas pipes

Hi, a quick query as to what will be covered as I can't find my policy right now.
We've home insurance and home emergency cover with Swinton and yesterday whilst having a plasterer in to do some work pre a new kitchen being fitted he damaged/found a gas pipe leaking in the kitchen.
A call to the home emergency has had them send out a plumber who doesn't do gas but on looking at it he says the best thing would be just to have a new pipe rerouted from the meter. Obviously this will cost more than a repair so will this be covered or will it be something we will have to pay for?
Last thing I want is extra costs.

Does your home emergency cover gas pipes?
If so then get on to them and get the correct plumber sent to fix the leak.
If the plasterer damaged your pipe make a claim of him or his insurers.0 -
Yeah it's covered under the home emergency! Plasterer is claiming it wasn't him. They've just sent an assessor who says the best thing will be caping off the old pipe and running a new carcass through...whatever that means. Just hope it's covered as it sounds expensive.0

So after all the messing about they've sent the right people but all they have done is capped it off. We've now no gas to the kitchen and they say the options are an electric set up or a new carcass being put in but we have to sort that. Going to phone the insurance and see what they say.0
