Amazon praise

Last week I took delivery of new gadget from Amazon which is both lovely and rubbish! It failed to do various things promised and showed my location as over 300 miles away at an address I haven't lived in for three years.
Today I asked Amazon to refund me and I'd return the item. Got my refund and told (by email) to keep the item too.
Yes, I know that it's not working the way it should but there's a technical team sorting out the various problems so it may well do better in the future.
Anyway - not so great a product but great customer service.

Actually telling us what the product was might be helpful, and avoid others having the same disappointment. Just saying.0

How does something you buy last week know where you lived three years ago?
Sounds like operator error.0 -

Amazon Echo - though I was praising the customer service here.theonlywayisup wrote: »How does something you buy last week know where you lived three years ago?

:rotfl: So very quick to judge!Email from Amazon -
I'd like to inform you that this is a known issue. Our customers have contacted us regarding the same issue that you're facing. We've raised a Trouble Ticket, case ID: xxxxxxx. Our technical team is working to resolve this issue.
My very question was the same as yours. Turns out it's one of number of problems for those with BT Home Hubs.
The Alexa app which controls the Echo won't allow a change of location (even though the option is there) It struggles to recognise my not-very-broad Scottish accent and other national / regional accents and the 'voice training' option on the US app is missing from the UK version.
Any matter - the customer service was excellent.0 -
Well, here we are almost four weeks later and the technical issue has a part resolution.I've checked with our technical team, they informed us that the system of location services is working on district code matching rather than postal code.
Our technical team is currently working to make changes in location services so that it match postal code.
I've stopped trying to change my default postcode and instead used the nearest town (eight miles away from my house) and it's worked!
No answer as to why the default was a three year old address no longer showing on my account but at least it's a lot closer.
