Best and cheapest don't often go hand in hand.

Most carriers will exclude electronics, so whilst you may find cheap, you will have issues if the signature isn't that of your son.

Sending to a Uni address, even with it being your son's, I would only use Special Delivery.

But at a cost of £26.60, that's an extremely expensive way to send something valued at £150.
  • Use a site like Interparcel.com to find out which companies offer what services.

I did say it was expensive.

The op can use an agent and one of the cheap carriers, BUT as it's to a Uni address and it's electronics, it has more than a fair chance of getting lost/misdelivered and or damaged.
  • Try the parcel comparison websites like another user mentioned.

I have seen interparcel.com are offering a parcel weighing up to 20KGs with £50 of cover for about £12 using UPS as the courier.

I have used UPS many times and recommend them and the parcel comparison sites do offer good deals. DPD are another decent service in my experience.

You can always add more cover/insurance to the item and shouldn't be that expensive but do check the Terms & Conditions and also exclusions of items to ship to make sure they can send a PS4 and not invalidate the cover should anything happen.

    Best of luck!

Whatever you use there is always going to be a risk sending to a hall of residence or a shared house. A random person will sign for the parcel, it will be deemed delivered and you will not be able to claim even if he never receives it.

Can he not cope for a while without it until you next meet up? it might encourage him to keep in touch with his parents.

In the meantime he can devote himself to drinking, chasing girls and going to occasional lectures as all good students should be doing.
