Background: I have checked my entry on the electoral register with the local council which I found to be spelt correct, as are the numerous polling cards I've received over the years.
Firstly, my issue with Call Credit / Noddle
Having secured a statutory credit report from Call Credit, I found they have my forename spelt incorrectly; this spelling error has also migrated over to my partners credit report under financial associates. I have approached Call Credit to ask how this can be amended and they're requesting communication from my local council that confirms my registration dates before they will amend my report. However, my local council tell me 'they only work within the current Register of Electors and can only confirm I'm currently registered to vote, not provide me with dates of registration.
This leaves me in a catch 22 situation. Any ideas on how I go forward ?
Moving on to Clear-score / Equifax:
Clear-score have my name spelt correctly from the Register of Electors, however, on my partners Clear-score report they have it spelt wrong under financial associates. Despite my partners various emails, they have yet to respond.
Unless Clear-score respond, I'm unsure what options I have ?
Experian have the correct spelling on both our reports: mine under 'Electoral Register', and my partners under 'Financial Associates'.

Clear-score? Have you tried contacting Equifax direct?..the free service with clear-score(and Noddle) are excellent but I find with a dispute its best to deal with a company like Equifax direct. I signed up for the free 30days service and cancelled before I was charged a membership fee...that way I was able to telephone equifax direct and found my disputes were sorted out with 72hours. As for the spelling error on the financial association....maybe put in a notice of disassociation? Technically, the incorrect name isnt you. If they dont remove the financial link, they will atleast have to correct the spelling error...I'm no expert, just wanted to try to give you some options....hope you get things sorted out!;)0 -

Can anyone else offer any suggestions ? Does the forum have a rep from Callcredit or Equifax ?0

Sorry you still having issues...
Can I ask if the spelling error has caused issues getting credit? I've noticed on some credit reports that they dont even use the full forename for financial links etc and only use the first initial and as many people spell their forename in lots of different ways, it might not even be an issue... As mentioned, if it has become a problem your partner could do "financial disassociation" to get the error off their credit file, which might be alot easier to do than trying to get a name change.
The other thing to think about is which financial link caused the spelling error?....It could be one of your Lenders, in which cause you would contact them direct and they could make the changes, which would automatically update on your credit file.....
If nothing else works, I'm sure a nice solicitors letter to the source of the issue might speed things up for you!...as this is reporting a false statement about you!;)
As for a Callcredit/Noddle rep......I could do with knowing if there is one on the forum as well as trying to remove financial association...their customer serice is so slow....
Best of luck.....hopefully someone will jump on thread to help soon!;)0 -

In the case of Call Credit, the misspelling of my forename is under 'Section 7 Electoral Roll', implying the error came from that source. However, the dates call credit specify under this section are only up unto October 2010. Which begs the question, how often do call credit update Electoral Roll information, surely they update it at least every year. Just to re-iterate, my name on the Electoral Roll is correctly spelt, and has been since 2004.
Dealing with Call Credit or Noddle is like pulling teeth, they go around in circles and invent procedures that are supposed to correct this information that don't exist. I have no control to change this section, its an obvious clerical error on Call Credits part, therefore they only way I can resolve it looks to be via the ICO.
With regards to Equifax. They have the correct spelling of my name from the Electoral Roll, and the linked joint accounts have the correct spelling of my name, so the error on my partners financial associate section could not have come from the lenders.
And to answer your question, a potential lender has queried the forename spelling, I've also been reliably told by another lender that they 'consider' these errors when making decisions.0 -

Sounds like you've tried to cover everything, difficult one to sort out, especially when the credit agency are not being very helpful....I agree on Call credit, by far the least helpful of all the credit agencies....really do have to question why companies like Callcredit can have so much control over our daily lives...
Sounds like the "ICO" option might be your only option...
