Life insurance for epileptics

Hi
My husband is epileptic. Completely controlled by medication and last grand mal seizure was 2 years ago. He also has sleep anapea. Has anyone got recommendations for insurance companies who look at covering this condition? If we go to an insurance broker do they charge?

  • Brokers make their money by commission, and sometimes by adding admin fees. Commission is paid by the insurer, admin fees by the customer.

Regardless, if the total price is competitive, it shouldn't matter how the cost breaks down!

Brokers commission forms part of the premium, and replaces the insurers keeping an equivalent amount to cover sales staff, advertising etc.

If you want them to they can. Insurance has the option of fee or commission still.

The people that know the answer to that will not be able to say as regulation prevents them.

Google life insurance with epilepsy for lots of specialist brokers
  • I've got all sorts wrong with me including epilepsy. Me and my husband have life insurance with Scottish Equitable. We pay just under £30 a month.

It is most likely that a mainstream provider will be suitable. It will probably just require the IFA/whole of market adviser to phone around the underwriters to see which one will treat the situation most favourably.

The diabetes website has a special deal with an insurer for people who find insurance difficult to arrange, so try the epilepsy community website for the same.

My husband uses a broker for some of his car insurances and ,as they shop around, they can turn out as good as doing it yourself, without the hassle. The one he uses does not add an admin fee, unless you want to change something mid-contract.

I knew someone who had sleep apnoea and had life insurance.
