Hello I was just wondering if anyone is having success with claiming back from catalogue/store card etc?
I have been successful with my banks/credit cards and think catalogues were just as bad. I remember when I first started to sort out my money, catalogue companies were very stubborn when claiming. Have things got any easier?
Thanks
Susanna

If so, it doesn't matter if it has somehow become "easier", as you cannot re-open old complaints unless you have very compelling new evidence not in your original complaint.
You will have no access to the Ombudsman either if you complained more than six months ago.0 -
They're very stubborn becuase they weren't regulated and have no liability to give you any money.
They might, but they don't have to....Pre January 2005 that is....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi again, I did not complain as I saw other people getting nowhere. All my catalogue accounts are before 2008 when I went into my DMP.
I did complain to Shop Direct as they never defaulted me but put me an Arrangement to Pay, but did not get anywhere with it even after the Ombudsman.
Thanks

The fact that you defaulted on these cards makes the likelihood of you receiving any refund even less likely. If you've had an Ombudsman decision on your Shop Direct case, that really is the end of it..0

OK thank you for that I will bear it in mind. I will give it a go and come back with my results.

If you were in a DMP and had money written off then even if they agree you were miss-sold they will offset any refund against the money that went unpaid.
Also DO NOT use a claims company, they will bill you for their % of any refund even if you don't see a pennySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi I have finished paying them off. Paid them everything I owed. But it would not of bothered me if any refund had gone to pay of the debt. This is what happened with most of my credit cards.
Yep, I would never use a claims agency, do it all myself.
Thanks
