Horizon _ Can not be serious

Hello people,

Thought I might run this by you as its quite blatantly deception.

Happened to be passing through Monmouth at around 9am one morning last week and stopped off for a coffee. There is little place to park but eventually we found a pay and display off the main street near Budgens.

Pulled into a parking bay that was quite central and was collecting up pounds to pay. WhenI got out of the car I could see quite plainly from around 10 m away Up to 1 hour FREE. Said to the wife its free for an hour and went on our way for a coffee.

On the return around 40 minutes later we have a ticket stuck to drivers side window saying we had failed to display a ticket. The attendant was not far away so I questioned it and he took me to the sign and pointed out in brackets in small print please obtain and display ticket.

I have FREE in capitals 4" high and then the steal your money phrase tucked under.

What do you do with people like this, you are set up to lose from the minute you arrive. I can see three signs from my parking spot all carrying Up to 1 hour FREE.

What do I do about these people ?

Aj

Do exactly as it says in the **NEWBIES** thread (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822), under the section "Appealing a private PCN (England & Wales ONLY): Windscreen ticket? = STOP - wait and research before appealing!!"

    Yes - clearly it's a scam.

Yes - they have failed in their duty to provide clear, concise signage that makes it clear the steps you should undertake.

Yes - the signage fails the "Red hand" test.

No - you shouldn't pay it.

Make sure the driver is not identified in the appeal, as explained in the sticky thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Did you take photos of the signage?

Yes, wait a couple of weeks before you post it off in the case of a windscreen ticket.

This is done do that by the time the appeal is processed, they have run out of time to send a postal notice to keeper. Just be careful to meet any of the arbitrary deadlines that are set, as it's a hassle otherwise.

    Ok

    So ticket issued 26/09

A Parking Charge of £80.00 is due within 28 days of the date of issue of this notice. Failure
to make payment of this notice within 28 days of the date of issue will result in the charge increasing.

A reduced amount of £45.00 will be accepted if payment is recived within 14 days of the date of issue.

Appeals should be submitted within 28 days.

So, I hang on until the 3 week mark then send them the blue template am I correct.

    Thank you

This is explained in the NEWBIES thread and the reason why has already been advised here. Please read and re-read the NEWBIES so that you understand the process rather than keep asking questions that are already answered.

It would be useful for us to see a pic of the sign. Upload the image to a web hosting site (not in your real name or with any other personal pics or albums) then post the URL here but change http to hxxp. Someone here will change it back to a live link.
