Online Conveyancing

Just accepted an offer on my house, now need to find a solicitor to do the conveyancing. My plan was to use an online company to save money compared to using one that's local. Are there any well known online conveyancing websites that are credible or that people can recommend?

Thanks

Never recommended on here. Use a local one - preferably recommended, but if not then go with the one who seemed the most helpful and efficient when ringing round/dropping in.

It MAY save you money. But at what cost in time, frustration and stress?

Stay local. A few hundred quid is worth it if it means the deal stays together. With the speed and flexibility of the online conveyancers, chances are you'll end up losing the house, losing money on surveys etc, and having to start again elsewhere.

Just be careful that the attractive fixed price quoted includes everything you expect - often by the time the 'extras' have been added on the final bill it comes out much the same as(or more than!) your high street firm who you could pop in and see every time there was a question / problem / urgent document to sign etc.
  • The horrible bottomline is that if you can't get sense out of them by phoning or emailing them, if they are miles away you do not have the final option of going to the office and refusing to leave until someone answers your questions sensibly.

By all means go on line to look for local conveyancing solicitors/conveyancers and then phone them and ask about their prices and what is included etc. If they are helpful on the phone and do explain what is and isn't included then that's a good sign.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

We are selling our house with a human
A relative is selling via online.
    We are peaceful and calm.
Relative is spitting flames and uttering nasty things.
Def think human is the way to go.

and yet despite this, you are scared......?
  • We found a local one was pretty much the same price as online. We went for local after the online one said we didn't need mine searches despite being in a mining area!!!
