Thanks everyone for this post and replies. I thought I was going made when I clicked the link and lost MSE. Taking a bit of time to get use to opening in new tab; so hopefully forum will be fixed soonest.

It's so annoying. I keep forgetting to right click instead. Wish it could be changed back.0

Hi, Just returning to the site after about 6 months, but noticed that when I click on a competition link in a post, it no longer opens up a new tab, but just directs the page from MSE to the competition. This is frustrating as I have to keep back-clicking to get back to MSE, plus it means that I can't have the MSE page open at the same time as the comp page, which makes entering Chat, TAB, Pick me up comps etc tricky as I can't switch between the two pages to look at the competition answers! Is this MSE or is it me? When you click on a comp link, is a new tab opened up for you separate from the MSE tab? Just trying to work out how to change it!!

It's MSE not you. There are several threads about this here and in site feedback.
Apparently they have done it for security reasons, but did so without giving any notice and took days to respond to queries. It is very annoying and there seems to be some doubt from people who know more than me about the validity of the security argument.
It is very disappointing that a site that is known for championing customer service is treating its own users in such a shoddy way.0 -
Ah thank you for letting me know; yes, frustrating, though glad it's not me! I've found a work-around in safari by pressing the command key and the link at the same time - this opens the tab in a separate window, but not sure what the Windows equivalent would be.
Thank you (o:
