Hello JVR - lovely to see lovely positive diary entries here. Hope you're wellMortgage: £83,000
Credit Card Debt: £1,700
Loan Debt: £3,0000 -
Speky - they were amazing and I totally shoved it in OH's face when he looked at them and said well they sound boring .... literally ate his words haha
Thanks Popps... realised your diary hasn't been showing up on my list so once done here I will pop over and catch up.
So last night was a bit spendy at £28... but was gorgeous food and wine with my lovely friend so worth it and basically just borrowed out of my spending money from pay day today so is fine. We also nipped into a Tesco and they had amazing yellow sticker so got my breakfast lunch and snacks for today for about £2.50 since I was out and wouldn't have time to prep anything.
First proper budgeted month and we have paid off £1122.98!! along with starting an emergency fund. Other months will not be like this as it was mainly the fact we got extra holiday pay but very please to start off with such a chunk gone. Just gone and shuffled all my money around and there seems to be an extra £100 in my bill account which seems odd..... leaving it in there in case its something I have forgotten about. So we have a mini week budget until OH's pay at the end of the month but all on track for the first time EVER!
This year I will be paying our car insurance monthly which I know costs a lot more and I do have space on 0% card but... I did that last year and guess what.... haven't paid it off! So since I can't be trusted I am going to take the hit of extra cost and also start saving to pay in advance with my own money next year. We have lots of pots not all in my signature. Trying to add them below... hopefully it works... some are set amounts to save to pay annual insurances next year others are as and when can get extra funds in like the house repairs fund for paint of bits and bats. At the moment will only be paying about £200 towards the debt a month so that we can save for an emergency fund and pay out the dogs injections and things they need this month. The aim is to get to £1000 emergency fund and then put more to the debt. We will get a decent bit of tax back for OH at some point since he has been off work and that will also go straight against the debt.

Massively well done on the huge debt payoff this month, JVR. If you can drip feed all your funds a set amount a month and pay down the debt it will eventually turn things around for you. It's just tough learning to do it slowly but surely.
I agree with you about the monthly insurance being more costly but wise in the circumstances - until we learn to be disciplined about spends borrowing to pay bills and then hoping you'll pay it off when you're already struggling isn't always the cost-saving it should be.Better is good enough.0 -
Oh wow, I bet that's a good feeling on the debt payment front!! And it's always lovely when you can have a treat with a friend so I'd be pretty happy on that front tooMortgage: £83,000

Spendy day!!!8230; I spent £5 in card factory on a few birthday cards, very belated card for a friend on having a baby and mother`s day card (very organised)
I then grabbed some bits in tesco for dinner and bagels for OH came to £7 but had an old tesco gift card and thought would check if it had any pennies left on!!!8230; £2 so that was fab.
Petrol was empty so £33 on that, which we will need as visiting family in Birmingham on Saturday.
Dog shop to get dewormer and food for one of the dogs who has run out, also picked up some bones and de-pee spray ..£30 had budgeted £20 so extra ten will come from our food account.
OH then went to the shop to get beers and other bits!!!8230; I bet he used the food account not his own!
All on track as only have to manage till Wednesday
Things are a bit tense with OH at the moment, I am tired from work and a bit fed up that he is off all day and not doing much and then snapping at me in evenings if I don!!!8217;t do much!!!8230;. Im sure will work itself out but not creating the nicest atmosphere when I get home.
Tonight I am getting my hair cut YAY! I have seen the same two hairdressers for 12 years and one went and had a baby and never came back then other just had a baby but when I last saw her in the salon she said she would be doing some bits to supplement maternity pay and gave me her number, so she is coming tonight to my mums to do mine, my mums, my sisters and the neighbour and bringing the lil baby with herDebt: £14,000 now £2169Emergency Fund: 1000/ £1000:j0 -
Oh my god! I can't believe how much you've paid off this month! Congratulations, what a win!
Hope you love your hair! I really need mine doing, but I HATE going to the hairdressers (probably go about once a year) because I always tell them to take the TINIEST amount off, and I always come back bald. It scares me
I hope it gets better with you and your OH soon. Could just be the February blues! My CC - Feb 18 £849.69 July 18 £0.00

JVR - You are organised!! Mother's Day card already! I'm impressed.
Also, I've not had a chance to say well done on how much you've paid off. Amazing. You should be really proud of yourself.
Regarding the situation with OH, I think you're well within your rights to show your displeasure. I would if I were you. It'll soon sort itself out and hopefully he get's his rear in gear.0 -
Thanks LiveLifeFull... I feel so much better and it was a lovely evening of baby cuddles and I know it made her life easier being able to bring him with her, plus my mum made dinner so that's a win!
Thanks Speky... first time for everything with me being organised!
It is an awesome amount but sadly it will slow down considerably!
spends should be low this weekend as at family event tomorrow and then a friend is cooking a roast for another friends birthday on Sunday. Booked tickets to go see Still Alice at the theatre next week so very excited and only £14 each in the cheap seats
Working from home this morning and then off to OH's appointment with the surgeon so hopefully will get a date for the operation.... his phone is also broken so may need to look at upgrading a month early a bit annoying but what can you do. Luckily persuaded him to look at 02's perfect refurbished phones which are a lot cheaper since he wants an IphoneDebt: £14,000 now £2169Emergency Fund: 1000/ £1000:j0
