Increasing Barclaycard credit limit online

There is an option to increase my limit online. My current limit is £14K.
On choosing "change my limit" it asked me for the limit I wanted, my income, employment status, why I want the new limit and to agree to a credit check being performed.
I requested £20K. The following screen said they couldn't give me £20K, but they could give me £19K. I had the option to confirm or cancel. I confirmed, and the following screen said "couldn't complete my request". Limit still £14K.
No great problem, it was a backup for a business purchase I intend to make next week.
Anyone else had this? Oh and by the way, I saw someone else apply for an increase where they were rejected, they did get a more wordy "rejection" message to the effect they could try again in 60 days.

I'd give them a call and say there was an error and the limit didn't increase, I've always found Barclaycard helpful.0

There are a few forum posts regarding this topic a while back that credit checks aren't done when increasing credit limits.0

If it was requested on weekends or after 7pm, just leave it till the following working day and your new limit should be updated. same thing happened to me recently, i was just playing with the increase tool knowing that my card is just 3 months and some days, I went ahead and my new limit says accepted but not updated until following morning. I used the tools after 7pm if that help.Aqua Advance £ 9500 ( Settled ) | BC Platinum Card 25/25 £10500 | 24 studio £1950 | SimplyBe £1800 | Nationwide Flexplus A/C OD £800| Meaningless Noddles score= 3/50

Hi Moshoodo1
Did you apply for the limit increase after having your Barclaycard initial for only 3 months? Or did you have the card for longer than 3 months?
Also if you don’t mind how much was your limit increase?0 -
@TheFinancial, I hold Platinum card and not BC initial, my Limit was £3800 from opening, I request new limit of 6k and was granted. yes my card was only 3 months and some days. 4years of credit history and no late payment or default.Aqua Advance £ 9500 ( Settled ) | BC Platinum Card 25/25 £10500 | 24 studio £1950 | SimplyBe £1800 | Nationwide Flexplus A/C OD £800| Meaningless Noddles score= 3/50

Thanks, it was out-of-hours. But the limit was still £14K when I checked just now (9.30am Thursday). I won't call them as the need for the increase has passed.0 -
They are usually very quick with updates, ive made 2 requests in the past year and they have both been outside hours as said and updated and went through immediately.0

I requested a small increase recently and got told that as my account was only set up "recently" they couldn't consider an increase and to try again in 6 months.
Had the card just over a year but haven't used it a great deal as the APR is lousy.0
