Win10 browser problems:

My Samsung 950pro M2 ssd failed after just a few months, leaving me to re-install Win10 (fully licensed Pro, 64 bit, not OEM) on a 2.5" conventional hard disk.
(So slow after the M2!)

ANYWAY ........ since I reinstalled all the gubbins, pop-up boxes in all browsers aren't doing what they should.
Firefox, Chrome and E.
EG: the spellchecker when posting here in MSE no workee (and polls which should show who voted don't show); things like a simple game my son likes no longer loads (when it did before) -http://www.lego.com/en-us/starwars/games/posterbuilder-30f24c66b5294260b7fe52f7018c802b
Hell, even the Argos home page won't load!

Any ideas, anyone?

I've tried a few things suggested on the web but so far no success.
Does anyone think my antivirus is somehow responsible, since I moved from Avast on the old (ha) HDD to Avira on this one.

950 pro has a 5 year Samsung warranty, are you getting an exchange ?

The M2's first gens weren't very good. That's the problem in taking on such new tech too quick.

But your current problem is nothing to do with that as you say you've re-installed Windows on a new drive. Thus it's more likely you need to do a disc scan and tune up on the HDD to try and get to the bottom of the issue.

huh, how is the disk performance going to stop spellchecker/popup blocker working ?

Jock what things from the net have you tried, folks might suggest something what you have tried already, they will move on.

Have you done all the updates both before and after the failure?

  • Thanks for the replies so far.

Yup, I am getting an exchange.

I'm thinking that I will wait for the new HDD to arrive, re-install Win10 and then see how it runs - since either I might not have the problem on there OR if I do, I will still have to at least try & fix it.

Perhaps a problem in Win10 updates since the lappy seems to be having similar problems.
    Strange, for sure.

Thank you all for your input.
