Rocking Horse for Christmas.

Hi,

I'm not really sure which board to ask this question in.

Has anybody got a Mamas and Papas rocking horse? The one that costs around £299.

My daughter is desperate for a rocking horse and this one has popped up on my local FB selling page. From looking at the website it says from age 6.

I am urgently trying to find out if this is an accurate age guide. If any one has one or has seen one irl, could you please tell me what age it would be suitable up to.

Thank you very much zz

I've seen the one in M&P and my little girl has a similar style one (actually it was mine from when I was a girl!). My daughter is 6 and its the right size for her. They do take up a tremendous amount of room, are tricky to move and, to be honest, it's very seldom played with after the original novelty wore off. Ours has already gone back up to the attic for another couple of decades - along with my rocking husky dog and mini Silver Cross pram.

Unless it's a total bargain, your daughter is incredibly horsey and you have a very large house I wouldn't get it.

    Thank you for your reply.

It is £60, which is a pretty decent price. I don't have a massive house, but we do have a large hall which just gets cluttered with junk... I was thinking it could live there and hopefully prevent people just dumping stuff in the vast floor space.

I do keep wondering if it will get used enough, but in all honesty I am completely stumped on what else to get her for Christmas.

If your house is anything like mine, a rocking horse would make a very useful clothes rack!

Haha it is very likely that will become its main use :o

It will probably get a couple of years use - even if your daughter gets bored quickly, her friends will love it!

Give M&P a call and get them to give you the dimensions as it really isn't small!

Website isn't that helpful, doesn't give weight of product, only dimension is seat height - 76cm, which looking at illustration, suggests total length maybe in excess of a metre.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I always wanted a rocking horse like that when I was a child. Didn't get one though, so my instinct is to say go for it. Even if it isn't used for long, it will hopefully give a lot of pleasure. Lots of toys aren't used for long when you think about it. Mind you, I've still got my toy farm up in the loft. That's tempted me to get it down and remind myself why I loved it!

    Thank you everyone.

I have decided to go for it and the lady is even dropping it off. I just need to sort my hall out, so it will fit in comfortably. I've had a treadmill in there in the past, so it should fit just fine..

Yes i had a farm with animals, people, trees and a few small buildings, farm gate and a few fencing panels. Don't remember what happened to it, but must have given it away.
