Speed tests, who to believe

Can anyone advise which is the most accurate/who to believe, as I get totally different results when checking with these:

    How and what are you testing ?

    To get a more accurate picture you need plug your device directly into the router using Ethernet as wifi carries a substantial overhead and affected by distance to router. Also make sure no other devices are active on your network.
    Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

    If your telephone line is a BT one (inc Plusnet) then

    You should also do it with the minimum of programs running, so reboot into safe mode with network, that is with the ethernet cable, (wireless drivers do not get loaded), you will get a more accurate reading, then do the same with windows normally running and you will get a lower figure due to all the stuff that windows and other programs are doing.
