This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Up early again as going to work last day of a long week so I shall look forward to 5 tonight and my two days off.
Roast pork tonight OH can cook, yesterday he made a beautiful chicken curry with Bombay potatoes and curried cauliflower it was really tasty.
Meeting my old manager for lunch tomorrow to catch up on the gossip it will be nice to see her we try and meet once a month but have not managed it for a while.
Wont be doing anything tonight as I am shattered now will settle and watch poldark and Victoria and with a glass of wine.
Have good days all xx

Good morning everyone.
Once again there's a shroud of fog over the ground and the sea though there's a sunny glow behind it so hopefully it'll burn off.
On the way home yesterday I took a detour via Helensburgh to do a little top up shopping so there is plenty in the fridge. There's some pea and mint soup to use up today and a couple of chicken breasts to cook.
I'd quite like a day of rest today so, apart from doing a washing load (if the sun comes I intend to do SFA.
Coxy - I hope your husband is enjoying his camping.
Camelot - did you survive the hordes of girl guides?

Morning everyone,
Thanks for the thread redruby.
Dry and bright here but cold, so much so that the heating has kicked in even with the thermostat set at just 18 degrees.
It was lovely spending the afternoon with Mum yesterday, she is very comfortable and settled at my DB's, has the privacy of her own downstairs room when she needs it a little rest but loves that she can see her DGC when she wantsWe did nothing but sit, chat and watch some Judge John Deed ( ooh Martin Shaw ) but was fab.
She has other family visitors today so we are having a day at home to ourselves and apart from checking on Bill, like Gers, will be doing SFA :rotfl:
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
This wretched tablet has eaten my post yet again.
RR I meant, but failed, to congratulate your daughter, now I am.
I'm with Gers, a day of SFA today though the sun is out and I might stick some washing on. It is really chilly though, am wondering if that's just in contrast to the warmth we have had up to now.
My OS bit is that the mister bought olive oil for 3 months and enough tea bags to sink a battleship, all half price. He made our dinner last night, cottage pie with YS meat. He had peas, I had cabbage.
I slept properly last night and feel so much better and brighter.
Hope you all have a pleasant day and love to those who would like some.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
LaineyT, that's good to hear, both about your dear mum and about you having a restful day xxI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

ooooh does this mean she got the job? Congratulations to your DD redruby :T
Lainey I'm glad your mum is comfortable xx
So pleased to be home! My house seems huge. There's worktop to prepare food, room to dry yourself after a shower, cupboards to put things in and space to dry clothes indoors when it's raining
The lack of kitchen this past week made it almost impossible to eat healthily, we've just been grabbing convenience stuff and it's left me feeling tired and not quite properly alive, lol. I'm going to spend the next couple of days sorting food for myself and having mini pamper sessions in between loading the machine and hanging washing out to dry.
Lunch will be fish pie and peas and I can't wait

Good Morning chums and a brighter day from the look of it than yesterday, which started out OK then got rather damp
:):) but its 'greened up' the garden a bit at least.
Eldest DD is coming this morning for Sunday morning 'scrambled eggs and coffee fest' We both enjoy 'perked' coffee and its our treat while we natter. She went to O2 last night to see Andrea Bocelli so I'm sure she will be full of how it went.
Hope everyone has a peaceful and happy sunday what ever they are doing
Cheers chums

Morning All
The sun is shining! Looks like it will be another lovely day, I have washing ready to go out and another load of towels when I've had a shower.
Billy Elliot was fantastic, a long day but well worth it. Gers, the Guides were good company and a credit to themselves and their leaders. We went for lunch too, an italian restaurant across from the theatre that looks tiny but was huge! Everyone had pre-ordered so not too long to wait for the food and as it was one of the Guides birthdays we had cake too.
Off to DDs this afternoon, I'll collect an order from Next on the way and need to call at Ikea too, DD was missing a bracket for the door curtain rail.
I have the bathrooms to clean today and some general tidying up but nothing too taxing!
Have a good Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread redruby xx
Luckily for me DS1 finished at 9pm last night instead of the scheduled midnight. He was happy too as he wasn't feeling 100% so jumped at the chance to finish early. Today I need to get him there for 10am. DD is going to walk up to the rugby club and I will meet her there.
Dinner is a very naughty birds eye chicken and veg pie - the individual frozen ones - which DH won't tolerate but the kids love. While the cats away etc....
Washing to hang out before I go.
To all those having a lazy day, I salute you. Enjoy the rest xx

Morning all
Thanks for the thread RR
I did a lot of nothing yesterday, managed to get punched in the eye by my DGD, she's only 2 and was playing snap, as she really doesn't understand it she just shouts snap at random intervals and waves her arms excitedly. It made my L&M laugh, cheered him up no end, lol.
Today I'm finishing of a blanket, I just have the edging to do, I've cut it a bit fine as my colleague is leaving on Thursday!
It was 7 degrees this morning as I was hanging out my washing, I'm still just sleeping under a sheet, but I might need to look out my duvet soon.
Have a good day everyone.

I have had a sudden burst of efficiency. Dishwasher is on , brisket is in the oven on a medium heat, potatoes are ready to parboil and I am having a coffee and browse for a few minutes.
Family came over yesterday and helped me finish clearing out the conservatory and it looks so much better and spacious. SIl took the boxes for the new day bed and mattress upstairs for me so I can move around the hall now instead of feeling trapped
Turns out there will be seven of us for lunch so hoping that brisket, roast potatoes, small yorkshire puddings and loads of veg will stretch. I plan to cook some sausages as well and maybe stuffing if I can fit it all in.
Congratulations to RR's daughter :j
Lainey
I am so glad your mum is more comfortable and can see family and also rest when she needs to.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"
