Bosch washing machine backfilling!

 Bosch 1200 Express just over 2 years old. Washes fine, then day or two later water appears in drum after some washes - seems dirty.
Smell like rotten eggs coming up sink plug hole.
Ran 90 degree wash with soda crystals to clean any grease etc, took off u-bend and thoroughly cleaned (was absolutely caked!).
It isn't the pump starting to go is it?
Any help gratefully received.

Hi
Where does the waste hose connect into? If it's a spigot on the trap under the sink then the hose should run up as high as possible in the sink unit before going into the machine. If not water from the sink will run back into the machine.

Thanks Corgi Guy, I've got it a bit higher, but why would this suddenly develop after 2+ years?

Probably just due to the blockage in the U-bend. Washing machine powder seems to cake up in the drain, I use liquid in the machine now.
A removable filter in the sink plug hole stops a lot of gunk going down the sink.
Also check the washing machine drain filter, if you haven't already.0 -
Hi
Over time the hose will settle with the movement of water through it and the warm water.A slowly blocking waste pipe will cause the water to back up as well.If you get the hose up near the underside of the worktop then the sink would have to be full of water (and the waste pipe to outside) for it to back fill.
Corgi Guy.
PS. www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk has some advice too. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=43Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0 -

Thanks for the advice.
Checked filter, it was fine - going to wash today, see what happens now.
Read somewhere that liquid not good for machines, builds up and causes damage. When I said pipe 'caked up', I meant full of gunk, but not washing powder. I too have used liquid for a long time, but going to try powder for a while.
