Hi,
I am newly disabled and am puzzled by these abbreviations.
ESA, LRM, HRC, DLA.
Would some one tell me what they stand for.
Thanks,
gus

Employment and Support Allowance
Lower Rate Mobility
Higher Rate Care
Disability living AllowanceMaster Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".0 -
Hi
ESA = Employment and support allowance = out of work benefit replacing incapacity benefit
LRM = Low rate mobility = low rate component of the DLA mobility allowance
HRC = High rate care = high rate care component of DLA care allowance
DLA = Dissability living allowance = working age benefit paid to those of us, in or out of work, who need help mobilising and or careing for ourselves
I believe these to be correct and I have been disabled, and claiming benefits since 1996.0 -
Thanks diary and sleepy, vielen dank.
I see they are for people claiming benefits.
I don't think I qualify.
But thanks again.

I did look at DLA/PIP and I did it seriously as suggested.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with some of the extra costs caused by long-term ill-health or a disability if you’re aged 16 to 64.
I passed 64 ....14 years ago.
Maybe they are waiting for me to kick the bucket and they will pay even less.

gustavski....perhaps you could look at Attendance Allowance? (Or AA if you want another set of initials!!
)
My beloved Mum is in her 80s(90 this year!...BIG party needed!)...and we are just looking into Attendance Allowance for her - application forms have been requested.
Attendance Allowance is claimed instead of DLA/PIPs by those who are of a more 'mature age.0 -
Thanks Prinzessilein.
Do I detect a touch Deutsch in your name?
But do you have to be ill to get AA. I am still relatively active. Also who claims it, is it the one who is being attended or the one doing the attending?

For AA it is the person needing the care who claims. The benefit for those who do the caring is called 'Carers Allowance'0 -
Hi Gus...yes, there is indeed a touch of Deutsch in my name...I am British, but was born in Germany and have lived there for some years...my Mother is from Germany.
Attendance Allowance is for those who have care needs. The allowance is paid to you. In fact, you don't actually have to have a carer - the allowance is paid if you NEED the help.0 -
Dankeschoen Prinzessin

Thanks for the info. much appreciated.
