Insuarnaces etc needed for running a paid for children's party?

I'm thinking of running a Halloween party for preschoolers / infants. Parents would stay and I would charge a (fairly nominal) amount to cover the costs with the hope there would be a little extra to cover my time organising it.
But what do I need legally? Insurance? I'm DBS checked as teach adults and on PTA, but not sure that's even relevant.
I'd like to do it properly if I do it, and as my work stops in school holidays might be a good plan to keep me busy and get stuff happening for children.
Any suggestions for where to find out what I need? -!: could I supply food I'd made (e.g. Biscuits) or would that mean a lot more paperwork / checking?

Insurance wise, you can arrange one off cover depending on how many people will be attending for between £60 and £110.
If you're thinking of arranging more than one event annually you may find it better financially to arrange an annual policy.
You'll need to ensure Employers Liability cover is in place if you have any employees, some of the subcontractors may also be classed as your employees.
Most schools want a relatively high amount of Public Liability Cover eg £10m which can push prices up0 -
That seems a lot for a one off, considering the parents are staying with the children. Insurance for a year round toddler group is only £80.
How do I know if I need employers liability insurance for subcontractors?
I wouldn't run it in a school, just a village hall, although they don't have public liability. I do have it, but not for that sort of work so would need to add it on...0 -
It will depend on the venue, many will insist on a certain level of public liability insurance but some may hold it for the venue and you may not have to pay. Check what each venue has.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
Insurance covers the insured party. It's worth looking at getting your own policy as the venue policy will cover the venue, not you. If you hang a disco light that falls and injures someone, it's you who'll be getting sued. (Top tip - ALWAYS add a safety chain to any suspended appliance, it's how professionals work)0

Double Check with your village hall.
Mine (Ecclesiastical) includes PL for up to 3 events a year with the same organiser.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I would be wary of relying on third party PLI.
For example little Jimmy chokes on a cupcake you made why would they pay up on your claim?
If little Jimmy tripped on an obstacle in the hall fair enough.0
