Cheap Energy Club Confused - Please could anybody help?

Hi everyone,
This is just on the off-chance that anybody might be able to point me in the right direction.
I signed up for the cheap energy club on 10th October and processed a British Gas "Dual Fuel" application (via the Cheap Energy Club website). However, British Gas have contacted me and it seems I've only been signed up for Gas with them and not electricity. The gas is running with British Gas now.
When I log-in to my Cheap Energy Club homepage, I see:
"You currently have 1 active application - Dual Tariff - British Gas - Collective Fix Oct 2017"
Then above this:
"Current Tariff Details" - GAS - British Gas | ELECTRICITY - SSE Southern Electric.
Why SSE Southern Electric?
I haven't heard a word from SSE Southern Electric since I signed up, nor do I understand why the term "Dual Tariff" is used if we're not receiving electricity from British Gas, too?
All in all a bit confused.
Would be very grateful if anybody might be able to help!
Thanking you in advance and a good weekend all.

GIGO -it's up to you to ensure the data input into the CEC is correct.
I think it may apply a default (depending on region) if you don't specify the current supplier & tariff.(most comparison sites do)
It's easy to update (but possibly not if a switch is in progress - contact the CEC if necessary)
The reason dual fuel is applied is because it appears you have applied for a BG dual fuel tariff.
I would urge you to check seperate suppliers as that is often cheaper than any dual fuel offering0 -
We didn't have a current supplier as we just moved into the house.
The point was that I want it to be British Gas Duel Fuel, but British Gas has only indicated it has been instructed to supply Gas to us.
I wasn't sure whether a dual tariff could also mean that British Gas passes on the electricity to SSE and it still falls under the Umbrella of SSE, but that doesn't seem to be the case.0 -
I have been on BG for 18 months. I've just used the Cheap Energy Club to switch from Dec 16 fix to October 17 fix.
I got an email to say my electricity had been switched. Then 24 hours later I got a second email to say the gas had been switched.
I suggest wait until Tuesday and check your online account again. If it's still wrong then, give them a call.
The dual fuel deal from BG through the cheap energy club is unbeatable for me. I used http://switch.which.co.uk/ before signing up, and there was nothing else even close. I saved about £100 a year last year, and have saved the same this year, plus £30 cash back each time.
Can't praise the Cheap Energy Club highly enough.0 -

So you are saying there was no gas or electricity supplied to the property when you moved in???
If there was, who do you thgink was supplying it? The energy fairy?
You would have needed to contact that existing supplier and set up an account before you could switch supplier. You cannot switch supplier without having a supplier (just like bank accounts)
Good luck!0 -

The property would be on supply from what is known as the Deemed Supplier. You really shouldn't attempt to initiate a switch until you have contacted the Deemed Supplier with your personal details and meter readings. You are then free to switch. The Deemed Supplier will bill you at its standard rate until the transfer of supply actually goes through in 17 to 35 days. BG has no relationship with SSE. My guess is that SSE has blocked the switch.
PS The BG Collective Switch requires the transfer of gas and electricity to BG. You should check that BG hasn't put you on its standard tariff for gas pending resolution of this problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Something sounds seriously wrong
If you have managed to save £100 by switching to the BG collective tariff, then I feel you really should have been alerted previously to a lower cost tariff than the one you were on.
Perhaps you could share with us the exact details please?
i.e.
Your supply region
Your anticipated annual consumption figures in kWh
I'll save my praise until the situation can be clarified0 -

No need to be rude.
I didn't think there was an energy fairy, I just appear to be a bit ignorant as a first time buyer about the process to go through, hence coming on here asking for help.
Have a good weekend.0 -

I did get an alert a few months ago that I could have switched to a cheaper tariff, but as it would have meant paying an exit fee I didn't follow it through.0 -

Hi andrew87mc100, I hope you're settling into your new home as I know it can be hectic time.
As you've been advised, whenever you move into a new property, you've a 'deemed contract' which the existing supplier. If you're having trouble finding them; please call our Billing Team on 0800 048 0202 & we'll check for you.
Once you've got those details, you can sign up to our Collective Fix Tariff as it will be available for the rest of the day.
However I'd give your current supplier a call too, so they know when you took over the property. Cheers, MattI am the official company representative of British Gas. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I bought my house last year as FTB. You are usually given supplier info on the seller provided documentation, and in my case the supplier wrote to me as I guess the seller had sent their final readings in.
First time using CEC as we opted to stay with the existing supplier and took their fix offering then (comparing it on uswitch there wasn't much cheaper). I do find it somewhat confusing. I know its marketing, but saying I will save £XXX when comparing to standard tariff is very sneaky. I'm currently on a fix, due to end next month, but assuming I will do nothing and go on to standard seems to be nothing more than maximising the savings figure rather than reality.
My current provider have told me of their new fix (which saves me £XXX over lapsing onto standard) and it could be very easy to think both options are saving money and not bother with CEC deal. Especially as you can't compare them yourself until you start to fill out the switching details  . Luckily I'm okay with plugging numbers into excel , and found switching was still worthwhile (than going onto my current suppliers new fix), but as CEC knew what deal I was on, surely if the British Gas deal was as good as they claim, then allowing comparisons with your suppliers cheapest deal would be more open and honest, especially as people would be more likely to switch knowing it wasn't all smoke and mirrors by claiming what you'll save verses standard rates.0
