Toronto Tips in October

Hi there, I'm off to Toronto at the end of next month and I am looking for some tips! I have been before a few years ago and done the usual stuff (CN Tower, Niagara Falls etc) I'm really interested to know if anyone has any ideas of things to do in October when its a bit more off season (places to visit etc) and also any ideas of restaurants/bars/entertainment for me and the boy (we are in our 20's). Any tips will be really appreciated :j

Get out of the city! October is beautiful if you just go a bit out - even just to Caledon. Car hire is cheap and driving is easy (Petrol cheap at the moment too - about half what we pay). If you do hire a car there is a beautiful little town called Ellora I visited a few years ago - very romantic.
Ever been to Toronto Island? Beautiful. Also, you might be in luck and catch a game at the skydome. Great atmosphere when there's something going on.
Not too sure where the hot spots are for nightlife now...
have a great time - I'm so jealous! (and I've only been back a few weeks!)0 -
Oct is a good time for sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs NHL ice hockey is THE game in town, but tickets are very pricey and hard to come by.

A MUCH cheaper option is to watch some junior ice hockey, tickets start at only £6 and the quality is very good, just one level below the pros, but it is a bit of a faff to get to the stadium (Hershey Centre ice rink in Mississauga) on public transportation.

Baseball season will be over by then but you can see Canadian football at the Skydome (aka Rogers Centre). It's basically like Amerian football but a little wilder, with one additional player per team, one less down to get a first down, and a wider playing field which makes for more big play action.

As far as nightlife, I recommend the Entertainment district and Queen Steet West of University, plenty of clubs and bars. There are some great steak houses in the Financial District (Hys or the cheaper Keg both on Adelaide near University across from the tall white office tower). Greek food on the Danforth, or check out Chinatown in the college/spadina area. And a good selection of bars and cafes in Little Italy, college west of bathhurst.
