Sky TV Advice Please!!

I've split up from my partner - he is continuing to live in our house while I've moved out. He wants to keep sky whereas I cannot take it with me, as my rented accommodation does not allow sky dishes.

The contract is currently in my name, still at the previous address. Can I transfer the contract into his name (it's been over the 12 month period since installation)?

I'd like to get some advice as i'm nervous that if i ring Sky up first without knowing my stuff, they'll get me to pay for the transfer?

Also, he would be looking to downgrade from Sky+ with multiroom, to just the sky+ package - would we be able to do this at the same time as transferring the contract into his name?

Any help before I ring sky to sort this out would be much appreciated please

Thanks
Maegan

  • Hi,

You are out of your 12 month contarct so changing the name should not be a problem at all. If not you can always cancel and get your ex to sign up again. You can up or downgrade your package at anytime so this should not be a problem either.

    I hope this helps!!

Do you trust him to keep the payments up? If so I wouldn't worry about telling them.

I would go with this option as it makes sure you will have no further bills. Your ex can sign up for whatever he needs.

The easiest thing to do is simply cancel.

Then your ex can phone up and ask to enable a second hand contract. Giving his details and the viewing card number.

Though if you weren't married and therefore he has a different name, he could if he wasn't bothered about having the service switched back on immediately blag a new Sky box as a new customer as long as he doesn't mention the history and is using a different bank account.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
