Is this a switched live? i.e. a cable that is only live when the ignition is on?

I would but all the wires come set at to the diagram so all I should have to do is connect

The instructions do say I can splice to the positive if not put on ignition

If you're not going to run a switched live to the the relay, you may as well just do away with it and simply run the positive though the switch.

Seems daft though

Try running the positive from the horn to the relay instead of the constant feed.
