Italian motorway tolls.
Today I travelled about 80kms on an Italian autostrada from Venice heading North.
When I tried to pay at the toll booth on leaving the motorway the machine couldn't take my Visa credit card as there was no apparent slot to insert it.
So I pressed the 'help' button and got a guy who spoke no English but just shouted torrent of Italian from which the only words I understood were Visa and Mastercard,
After a couple of minutes the machine spewed out a length of paper with the amount of €7.50 on it.
Would these machines be contactless as I was holding it up to the Visa & MasterCard sign on the machine when it sprang into life?
I'll be checking my CC statement when I get home of course.
I'm now on my way home (in Germany at the moment) and can't see me returning to Italy any time soon - so should I just forget this?
I don't think they can chase me in the UK for this - or can they?

I really hope you weren't at one of the "cash only" booths...0

You could check with your card provider if there is a €7.50 charge pending on your account."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
