Paying BACS via Credit Card?!

Hi,
i recently ordered a new credit card (0% interest on purchases for 24months) as I am doing some home improvements, and this seemed the cheapest way of making the payment. The work costs about £2k, and I planned to spread the payments over the 2 years.

The work was done on the house today, I'm very happy with it - but the company (sole trader) has asked for payment via BACS or cheque!

Is there any way of using my credit card to make this payment?!
It's a Clydesdale Bank CC - I had a look on their website, but there's no way to do that is there? That would be a bank transfer I guess, and therefore not eligible for the 0% promotion?

I did think if I could make a payment via a 3rd party like PayPal or something, but that doesn't seem to work either?

Any suggestions?
If it comes to it, I can make the payment with some of my savings - just a bit annoying I can't use the CC as I intended to!

The invoice asks for cheque or BACS, I guess because he doesn't want CC fees. The work is guaranteed for 10yrs, and I'm very happy with the job he's done, so I'm not that worried about section 75 of the CCA

Any advice appreciated!

NO there is nothing you can do is the short answer, however if you have any old unused card do a cash advance on that and balance transfer as soon as you can.
Otherwise put all of your daily/weekly/monthly spending on the new card and use the moneyleft in your bank towards the job.

Or pay the bill from savings and pay them back by building up the CC balance over the next few months through normal purchases, making only the minimum payment.
  • Ok, thank you very much for the quick replies, and the tips - i hadn't thought of either,

    Much appreciated, ta
