Double Glazing

We are having double glazing, and I have the following questions:
1. I would like to know if having vents in the double glazing means that you do not have to have a vent in the wall if you install a gas fire in the property later on?
2. When the man came round from the double glazing shop he said that the windows being fitted in the bay window and the bathroom would need to be toughened glass. (I thought that all double glazed windows would be toughened as standard).
I should be grateful for anyone advice on this?

I wouldn't buy double glazing from anyone who has a "shop" or anyone that wears a shirt and tie, in fact
Local independent companies rule!
As for vent for a fire - each fire will tell you how much ventiltion you will need. We've just installed a flueless fire and any ventilation provided by the windows would not have been enough. We needed an air brick - not like it's any hassle or a particular selling point of DG!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The glass will need to be toughened if any part of the pane is: in a door, within 300mm of a door and less than 1500mm from the floor, or less than 800mm from the floor regardless of whether there is door near by or not. Otherwise annealed is fine.0
