Protect wood table from water?

Hello all

Just wondering if anyone knows anything we can paint or gloss on the a wood coffee table to protect it from water?

  • Osmo wood protector 4006 clear 1 coat to waterproof the wood and then 2coats of Osmo top oil high solids 3058
    You can get clear Matt or clear gloss.

    It's exactly what varnish is for - it's a thin layer of plastic, in effect.

    For less protection, but nicer finish (to my mind), you can use oil, or even shellac french polish - more maintenance but you still get to touch the grain

    There are lots of options but really depends what you are starting with(type of wood) and how much effort you want to put in

    finishes like Tung oil are resistant to a lot more than water, acid foods alcohol and heat if you can be bothered with the application process.

    Beeswax polish. Oh and coasters as suggested!
