Hi all!
I've just gutted my flat in London and am wondering what to do with everything I've removed. Are there people who buy items such as old bathroom suites, kitchen appliances and general household items (mirrors, tables, chairs, sofas....)?
They all seem too good just to take to the refuse center....
Thanks for any help!!!

How about a skip?0

You could try selling them on eBay, preloved, gumtree or facebook.......
Otherwise offer them for free on freecycle?Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Try freecycle, gumtree freebies. If there's anything with significant amounts of metal try leaving them out for a couple of nights - some people make a living collecting, processing and selling such stuff.
You'll get waste removal companies to remove it cheaper than a skip in all likelihood.0 -
If they're in good condition, ask the British Heart Foundation if they will collect from you. (There will probably be other charities in your area as well who do collections).0

I'm not sure I'd want someone's old toilet. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

For kitchen appliances and general household contact a furniture recycling charity: http://www.frn.org.uk/donate.html
If you join a http://www.nextdoor.co.uk
group you could post a message offering stuff to people in your local area.
Otherwise round me people leave things outside their house in the street sometimes but not always with a note inviting them to be taken and they soon disappear although you need to be careful about upsetting the neighbours/Council who might think you are just dumping.0 -
We revamped our living/dining room last year. We bought our new stuff from a local independent furniture store. They offered to take our old furniture to the local auction house for inclusion in a general furniture sale.
Out of interest, we went along to one of the sales. What an eye opener! It was like a furniture graveyard. Some of the stuff was just vile although there was better quality among the dross. Everything was being snapped up though by what looked like dealers. The prices were ludicrously low.
I said I did not want my very good quality, well loved furniture going to such a place. We contacted the local Age UK branch and they came to collect everything. We were able to "visit" it in their showroom and were happy to know that the cash raised was going to a good cause. I am happy to say, it all sold very quickly.0
