Getting a mortgage after credit trouble

Hi will I ever be able to get a mortgage again? Had a very bad time about ten years ago, including a house re possession among other issues. That must be ten years ago, nothing of it shows on my credit file, from clear score.
I have recently got a credit card, my own bank did decline my credit card application
Thanks

I'm no expert but no reason why you cant get a mortgage after all this time, if you've been able to manage your money since and the defaults have dropped off your credit file and its now clear. You read many comments on these threads where people have been able to get a mortgage after bankruptcy etc. I think it's harder to get one from your average high street bank but if you willing to use an independent - whole market broker, I'm sure you have a very good chance to get a mortgage..
Good luck with your search....0 -

Was your bank one of the creditors you defaulted on, ten years ago.
To obtain a mortgage behave normally. Focus on saving for a deposit. Let time deal with the credit history. You cannot change anything. You can can influence the future though. The bigger the deposit you save the easier it will become. Choice is yours. No one can do it for you.0 -
if im able to get a mortgage within 6 years of bankruptcy im confident you will be able to get a mortgage also.
I did post about it in the BR section.
Take things one step at a time and deal with any inaccuracies on your credit file, make sure everything is up to date and show the lenders that you can save money and you will hopefully stand a good chance.
i paid £2000 for my mortgage advisor. The way i saw it, £2000 for a house, without my mortgage advisor, all others i approached said i had no chance.
good luck0
