Natwest mortgage product fees 'refund'

Hi everyone,
Could anyone shed any light on this?
I haven't been a NatWest customer for years but a few days ago I received a letter from them offering me a £213.92 'refund'. The letter says:
"...we no longer feel it's fair that you paid for a product which you did not receive."
I can't believe the bank is offering me money out of the kindness of its heart (it doesn't have one, lol). What's the rationale here?
Has anyone else experienced this?
Rob

Ring them up and ask them
It might be some sort of of mortgage equivalent of the card protection schemes or similar or some sort of service they charged for but forgot to offerSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Why would a cheque from Natwest themselves bounce?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
