I am not keen on cinnamon, it tastes like soap to me, but the family likes it, I prefer nutmeg,
The simple meals are the ones that go down well here, anything with 10 ingredients or more does not get made:rotfl::rotfl:
Egg and chips anyone? If you have a sack of spuds and lots of eggs you will always have a meal, bit boring everyday though
Potato cakes with poached eggs make a lovely change
Add some grilled tomatoes and mushroom and you're elected0 -

Mashed potato nests with a rasher of bacon wrapped round the outside and an egg in the middle.
rosti pancake with bacon and eggs on top , add tomatoes and you've almost got pizza.0 -
And of course good old frittata
Two basic cheap ingredients and we can live like kings0 -
Well I made the bolognese with 130g dried lentils. I could still see them in it every so slightly (they've been hanging around for a little while... :A) but I served it none the less. My OH scoffed it and loved it.
When he was hoovering the kitchen earlier, he stopped halfway, looked up and me and said "have you been putting lentils in our food?!". I burst out laughing :rotfl: Would have been totally undetected if I hadn't caught my thumb on the pot and dropped some... I thought I'd gotten them all, too :rotfl:
I got 12 behemoth portions (though, I'm unsure if this was JUST because of the lentils, or because we weighed it), which cost 93p per portion and then 2p for the spaghetti.0 -

I made bolognaise last night to make into lasagne tomorrow
Started off with 300g of mince and the weight when put in the fridge was 1112g.
I prefer it now with the lentils. Gives a depth of flavour and thickens lovely. Guess it's going to be two, four portion lasagnes0 -

Can I add the 7th?
Nan made something she called Angelsy Eggs - mash potato blended with leeks spread in a thick layer in an oven dish. Make wells and crack eggs in, then top with cheese sauce (or white sauce with grated cheese) and bake for 20ish mins.
I'm sure you could add tomato slices somewhere - she sometimes hid chunks of cooked gammon or cooking bacon in the mash (like sixpences in christmas pud:rotfl:)That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Given Jackie mentioned 'the welsh' in her post, I think I know the answer to this one.
Welsh baked cheese is traditionally more like a thick cheese sauce poured over toast.

(you don't have to bake the bread yourself if you don't want to). That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
