Smart Parking have barely dipped their toes as far as court is concerned. One of the most cynical companies in the game IMHO. They have never made any secret of how they view the money they make from PCN's to their shareholders (its an Australian based company) and are constantly striving to increase revenue from "civil penalties" - in the last financial year they rose by over 100% on the previous year.

And this is a company that boasts about making parking efficient (they have a substantial technology wing)?

Unless I am being excessively obtuse or straightforwardly dumb how can you strive on the one hand for efficiency whilst simultaneously seeking on the other to increase "civil penalty" revenue. Surely an increase in "civil penalty" revenue can only be the clearest indicator of increasing inefficiency?

If anything was to give the lie to claims by PPC's to "manage" car parks then it has to be this stance of unSmart. The unpalatable truth is that they "farm" car parks not manage them. But then we have long been used to PPC Doublespeak.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Here is the grand fromage of Smart Parking talking about the company. I challenge you to stay awake during this dull, dull presentation:-

Only someone coming from a photocopier company could possible get so energised about parking. Or rather getting your hands into the pockets of the motorists.

What of course Mr Gillespie fails completely to mention is that PPC's in Australia became so avaricious (collectively) that they were banned from access to the equivalent of DVLA keeper data. Now, there wouldn't be any connection between that and Parking Australia (their ATA) getting a certain UK ATA based in Cheshire - now styling itself as a "Community" - to create a Code of Practice (the quid pro quo for getting data access again) would there?

On the basis of that performance I suggest the company should actually be known as SmugParking

Quick question regarding the POPLA website..

Im assuming I select 'other' when it asks what reason I am appealing. However it only gives me enough space for 2000 characters which is no where near enough, would I be right in assuming I must put this appeal to them in writing?

No you attach it as a PDF in 'OTHER' - this is asked every day and is already covered in post #3 of the NEWBIES FAQS thread about POPLA.

I always suggest as well, a search to answer any question because you can be sure it's been asked before. You could have searched the forum for '2000' as a search term!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
