Espel parking enforcement

Hi,
Last night (29/9/19) I attended a Warrington wolves home game and decided to park on a car park on winwick street, payed my 4 pound parking charge to a guy upon entrance, only to come back to a parking ticket on my car.
Upon entrance to the carpark I was handed a piece of paper with £4.00 written on it, which I didn't display in my car as it didn't indicate to do so on the piece of paper.
I am interested in some guidance to whether I Should appeal this ticket or just ignore it?

More info needed. Is "Espel" the name on the charge notice? They are IPC members (ES Parking). What does the charge notice say? What did the signage in the car park say?
More importantly, are you sure the person you paid wasn't simply some chancer who was pocketing everyone's £4, and had no connection with the car park at all? It has been seen before!0
