I think once you agree a sale on your place and have a purchase in progress stop looking at local sales - you'll just drive yourself nuts. I understand why you're tempted, but it's best to concentrate on what you have in progress. Good luck!

Every one here has a different opinion, most saying stick with what you got but it's not their money, 10k is a lot of money and they would think twice if it was theirs so ignore what everyone says.

Bottom line is simple, are you in a highly sellable area, seems like it if you sold in a day, so your answer is simple take the extra 10k, feel bad for the existing buyers if you want but you will get over it and so will they.

So many threads where buyers have used brexit as an excuse to drop their price at the last minute so it cuts both ways.

ok sorry let me explain better...

We've sold our house for 200k which at the time i though was ok... now 2 in our street have sold for between 208k - 213k. Im worried that we are being rash in our decision as we are so in love with this other house that potentially we are doing ourselves out of money..

We will walk away with 68k in equity ..when that has a potential to be 78k

Im not asking for support... im asking for advice, if it was you would you go back to market but risk losing the house you've offered on ( i know they wont wait)

10k is not a lot to some i know

You have make you own mind up. This is not a decision on which you should be guided by strangers.

Having said that, for what it's worth, I wouldn't bother. I would complete the current sale and enjoy the new house.

so.... we just sold our house, open day was offered the asking price ( we only saw one EA, they were also selling the house we loved)

We accepted the offer.... proceeded to offer on dream home!

We have since discovered 2 houses currently going through the sale process on our street have sold for 10k more.. :-(

What would you do??? remarket and try and get more and risk losing the house we really want....

such a dilemma ... 10k is a lot of money!

    Live by your decisions.
    It's nothing , not nothink.

If the next house is literally your dream house, then I would probably just rock on with the sale. If not, and I honestly thought I had sold the house under value within a few days of the sale, I might not proceed - I'd have to be pretty sure I'd dropped the ball.

Thank you for all that have responded.... we go back this evening to our dream home and if my heart still says yes then we are sticking with our original decision, I thought our buyers offer was fair.... and i just need to move on and get into our new home :-)

The words 'dream home' are used here a lot and respondents have to take that at face value, without knowing exactly what is meant.

Sometimes, I'm sure the word is misapplied, and I wonder if that's the case here. After all, if it really is your dream home would you still be looking in the rear-view mirror at the deal you did?

When we were last looking for an acceptable home, never mind the dream, we took over 6 months to find it, so it was 9 months before we got in. That's life on hold for 9 months + rent at £1k a month.

    And that's why I said "£10k? pfft!"

On the flip side. I'm buying a place for £193k, one on the same development has just sold for £185, another is on the market for just under that.

Doesn't mean I reduce my offer.

If that £10k would have resulted in cash, I could see your point, if it's equity, it's not real money, yet.

You should be cutting your offer, or are houses so scarce round your way that people camp out over-night to over-bid for them ( as some on here would like to believe is the norm :rotfl:)

To the OP - mucking about over 10k in an environment where even the German powerhouse has what, three banks in trouble, is just asking for your own trouble, sell and move on before your buyer changes their mind.
