Retrofit side lights to existing uPVC windows

Hi, I'm sure this is a simple question, just beyond me... and forgive the lack of lingo
Recently moved into a place that has uPVC double glazing, with small top hinged openers only, in all the windows. Where I would imagine the side openers to be is just a pane of glass. Is it possible to change these into openers? Obviously would need to buy the frames, hinges, glass etc - I just don't know if the main frame of the window has to be manufactured differently for opening vs non opening. Hope that makes sense!
Thanks in advance
James

We had to have a whole porch double glazing unit removed because it couldn't be modified. If you have a situation where they are individual units maybe you could remove one and have another fitted. But they seem to construct them to be inter reliable in construction and not divisible.0
