I am living and working abroad and want to do something with my savings. I have been offered the Novia Global Platform off shore investment which will allow me to invest while I am out of the UK.
The intermediary is quoting me a 2% transaction charge on each transaction I put into the fund plus a 1.5% annual charge. Does this sound like a good deal? does anybody know if I have any other options to invest while I am out of the UK?

By UK standards no. However, by offshore standards it is normal.

Not to me. I would think you can do quite a bit better than that.

Interactive Brokers is keenly priced -- particularly for DIY passive investors -- and has a good reputation among the internationally mobile. TD Direct Investing International and perhaps Saxo Capital Markets may also be worth a look.

If you want help selecting investments to hold in these brokers it will very likely be much more cost-effective to pay one-off charges for separate advice, either flat-fee or per hour.
