Evening All,
It has been many moons since I posted anything in this little forum; and I am after some help from fellow MSE'ers.
I have an Ex who moved out four months ago, never to return while I can still breath, however the electric bill is in their name and which they are still paying! However I wish to be completely independent and pay this myself. The Ex will not tell me who the supplier is or agree to have it transferred to me! What. An. Idiot. Any advice dear folks?
Thanks in advance.

Or sign up with a new supplier [ check the mse energy club out] and start your own billNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
-
also note he or she could claim for the bills whilst you used it and they weren't there0

Decide who you want to use and set up an account with them. Explain that you don't know the curent supplier. They should be ableto transfer you across.
I think your ex would stuggle to cliam anything back from you in a situation wehre you have asked him to give you the account details so you canchange the account and he has refused.
The worst case scenario if you can't find ho the old supplier is is that you can't give them the final meter reading whic may delay them in sending a final bill to your ex, which is really not your problem. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

Legally that argument would fall down very easily.
The OP simply needed to contact her preferred supplier and arrange a new account
- given the old account wasn't in the OPs name, they could not have discussed it anyway0 -
Try this link on uswitch for details of finding out your supplier.
Sorry it's a bit long !!

Might be obvious but if he moved out of your property then why don't the bills still come to your address just in his name?0

They may still do but postal communication may be done so infrequently that the OP hasn't seen anything yet. For example my energy supplier communicate mostly via email asking for meter readings and I pay bills monthly by direct debit, the only paperwork I get through the post is an annual statement of how much electricity/gas I hav used.0 -

This utility bill is done electronically from when it was set up with the provider. No paper bills. If there had been paper bills I could have sorted this out months ago.
