Hello everyone.
There have been some pretty decent Dell Vostro deals for around the £300-£320 mark although there is a current one for £350 delivered with 2 gig of ram. However currys are offering a new Advent 8115 for £399 with a dual core processor, 100Gb HDD and 2 gig of ram! which is pretty decent for the high street!
It is becoming more common for laptops to have 2 gig now, especially due to vista. I only run Media Centre XP but I think 2 gig really gives the edge!
Not available for home delivery yet unfortunately, otherwise you may be able to recieve 5% off with **** making it £380 which would be attractive! But still, I feel for the spec, it is a good high street price when some people are paying the same for a celeron with just a gig of memory!

Nice looking deal, with a great spec, but just not convinced about the make. Also check out pc worlds clearance section, some amazing offers to be had there!0

vostros come with core 2 duo, which is better than pentium dual core.0

yeah, the clearance and refurbs section can offer some great deals, i deffo agree with that! But i still think for the high street its a pretty decent deal even though like mentioned, its not the later core 2, its still better than a celeron!!
I suppose the build quality and design may not be up to the standard of big brands (tosh/hp) but at least the majority of components should be recognisable brands! ... you'd hope!0 -
Thank you. Just reserved one..and the Currys is only 10 minutes away, even better0

How does this one compare to the one spotted by Sukysue which is the same price. It's the one from Tesco. I'm in the market for a new laptop and both these are about the price I want to pay. I know that the Acer one has less memory and a smaller hard drive but after reading many threads about which is best INTEL or AMD, I'm wondering, which would work better, the AMD Chip and less memory (as it's newer??) or the INTEL with more memory (If you get what I mean)
Here for the thread

Here for the link to the Tesco deal

Hi there. As a brand, Acer would win over the EI but at the end of the day none of the components are Acer branded so does that really matter?
That acer seems a cracking deal for a 17" model, with decent spec. There is nothing amazing about this IE system, except for 2 gig of ram which does make it stand out. Therefore i think it'd be hard to make the decision, 15 inch models are much much more portable than 17" models but i think you'll have to make that decision!
On a note of this advent, its not sexy sexy, but its quite nice, simple looking. As i said previously, i run a HP with 2 gig of ram and would never buy anything with less now so perhaps id swing towards the EI!0 -
Just called in at Curry's on the way home and had a look at the laptop..... One of the things I don't think it mentions on the Currys website is that this one also has an S-video output aswell. One of the reasons I was going to go for the Tesco one was because of this but now that I know the Curry's one has one, I think I'll opt for that one. To be honest I'm only really wanting it to surf the web and sort my music on pictures out etc etc.........not planning to take over the world or anything ;-)0
