Lying to PPCs, etc.

Out of curiosity......Is it an offence for the RK to lie to a PPC when naming the driver???

Is it an offence to reply on behalf of the RK as if you're the RK.... but you're actually not??

I do know it's an offence to lie in court....

Whilst we wouldn't condone misrepresenting yourself as someone else, there's absolutely nothing wrong with dealing with PPCs for someone else in their name. The key is that you're acting as their representative with their permission. (The PPC don't need to be told this as long as everything they receive is in the keeper's name. Remember, the vehicle keeper is not necessarily the registered keeper as stated on the V5C ... I'm the keeper of my company car, but the lease company is the RK).

But to answer the literal question asked ... no, it's not an offence of any kind in the private arena, UNLESS you tried to do so if it went to court.

do you want to lower yourself to their level?

let only their lies be heard in court , and laugh with the judge

as this is a civil matter , there would not be an offence that the police would take interest in , however a civil judge might not be happy when paperwork is produced

If you lie, you are often caught out.

PARKING LIE often get caught out
  • Difficulties would arise if you lied to a PPC then the matter went to court, and documentation with your lies was presented as evidence by either party. You're then left with two options; maintain that it is the truth, and commit an offence that you're likely to get in to severe trouble for, or come clean that it's lies, which won't do very much for the rest of your defence.
