  • I sold a coffee machine that just turned up. I don't drink coffee so wouldn't have entered it. It must have been a runners up prize. Got £25 for it.

I mostly do just enter to win things I want though.
I just enter and forget...hoping to win something! :)

I have never actually entered a competition with the aim of selling the prize if I won it, however once or twice I've received a prize that in all honesty I wouldn't have used much so I've sold it on ebay. Think I've done it 3 times in about 4 years. The most I got for one thing was £220 for a Sonos speaker set. Timing couldn't have been better as we had a big family event to pay out for and we were skint!

The only prize i have sold was a lamp - I really liked it when I entered but didn't read the description and when it arrived it was huge and had a 50" shade! I had no-where to put it! It was worth £150 but I sold it for £75 on ebay - a bonus £75 I wouldn't have had! Everything else I have managed to use/give as gifts etc
    Comping since 2014!

I sold a range cooker that I won several years ago, i'd just brought a flat and to fit it in would have meant ripping out the whole kitchen and i couldn't afford that. Got £1500 for it on ebay.

About £20 for a diecast Porsche to a model-collector; I have done it the other way too. Bought a dishwasher from a comping pal who couldn't fit in her kitchen for half the list price.
I need to think of something new here...

Many, many years ago a good friend won a car in a newspaper competition; however, she couldn't drive, and arranged for the garage supplying the car to buy it from her, getting £10,000 for a brand new, never off the forecourt, £16000 car. She was delighted with the money but we were both appalled at the markup.....and I bet the garage still made a profit on it...
  • I won loads of tickets to a festival one year, after entering dozens of comps. However, my daughter was taken ill that weekend.

In the morning, we drove up to Staffordshire and sold all of the tickets at face value to people who were about to get ripped off by touts. Made enough to replace all of my kitchen white goods :)
Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!
