Commercial Smart Meters

I switched suppliers in January for my Church and Church Hall – going from Gazprom to Total Gas and Power.

Gazprom changed my Electric meters to Smart and these, as expected, became dumb with TGP.

However the last few TGP monthly bills are Smart readings – the meters and communications at my end are unchanged and no-one has been to do any work on them.

In the Commercial/Business supplier world do they operate differently to the domestic world ? Do the old suppliers sell the data to the new? If so why can’t the Domestic suppliers operate this way ?

Commercial sites have AMR (auotmated meter reading) meters which typically are not the same as those that will be used for domestic sites which will be remotely configurable (no of rates) and can be switched from CR to PAYG.

Thank you Spiro. Does this mean that all suppliers can access the data and the suppliers billing system applies the unit rates ?
