Halifax Help to Buy ISA - do you need to wait for closing statement?

My sis went to close her Help to Buy ISA today as she'd been told by her solicitor that it would take 5 days for the Halifax to get the closing statement to her. She's completing on Monday 10 October. At the Halifax branch she was told that they would print off a document for her when she closes the account and that this document is all the solicitor needs to claim the bonus. She now wants to wait until next week so she can pay in another 200 at the start of October.
I'm a bit worried (she isn't!) because when the solicitor wrote about it they included an example of the Halifax closing letter which, although it has all the account details, says a statement will follow in up to 5 days. Does she need the statement or will she be ok with the letter? Either way, it seems like it's cutting it a bit fine to me.

Halifax also told me the closing statement was printed off there and then in branch on the day it closes for the account holder to pass on to their solicitor. My Solicitor has said it can take a few days to send off and receive confirmation from the government, this is presumably the concern with it getting close to the completion date.0

That makes me feel a bit better. I understand the conveyancer bit can take up to 5 working days so she might be ok.0 -

Just closed my own with the Halifax. 2 clicks and the account was closed and statement was in my hands.
Takes a few days for solicitor to claim the bonus as the above mentioned but solicitors won't normally apply until exchange has taken place and you then get the money off your final bill at completion.0 -
Hi just wondering mattk_180 which bank are you with as Halifax seems to want me to go in branch- if so do you need to book in or will they do this closing over the counter ?
Thanks0 -
It’s an old thread so you might not hear back. Why not start your own thread?:)0

I think perhaps he was referring to the clerk at the bank's branch made only a few clicks on their computer screen and the account was closed."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett
