Will my car's log book work as proof of identity?

I have a job interview tomorrow, and to sign me up, they want identification and proof of things, and one thing they want is proof of address. Now I have my driving licence but silly me shredded my latest bank statement once I checked it over and it was fine. The job have sent me emails saying the interview was cancelled, then back to normal etc so I nearly forgot about the interview, hence why it was shredded.
I've been looking around and the only real letter I have to prove my address is my car's log book, unless I can dig something else out. My driving licence is a full UK licence and contains my address but I just wanted a letter or something to confirm this..
Any advice? And I apologise if I'm on the wrong thread, I just found employment

Have you asked the employer if they have a list of acceptable forms of ID ?
I suspect the answer is no you can use the Logbook, Ive never seen the cars logbook in a list of acceptable ID.0 -
Do you have a passport? If so, take your password as proof of identity and your driving licence as proof of id. If not, take your car log book and the most official letter you have with your address on it. Explain the problem and offer to bring in your next bank statement before you start work. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

How would a password help? What is difference between Identity and id?

Do you not have any bills with the address on - council tax, utilities, wage slip, benefits award? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I know this is a stupid question (probably due to my age and cautious nature), but...you shred your latest bank statement after checking it? What if you subsequently need to refer to it? Do you not keep any paper records for any length of time? (eg credit cards, utilities, council tax etc)0

Wifes friend found out it wasn't wise to throw receipts away. Council took her to court for non payment when she insisted that she had paid it.
She had no proof, paying at the post office counter and throwing the receipts away.

I think it is unlikely that a logbook will be accaptable as proof.
Hwever, as tacpot12 says, you could provide passport as proof of ID and driving licenceas roof of address.
Ot if you have time to pop to your bank they might be able to print off a duplicate bank statement for you.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
