Advice on energy switch please!

Hi - I switched to dual SSE about 7 months ago and our bills are currently £156/month. The fixed rates run out in Feb but until then there is a £60 exit fee.

Just did the energy club comparison and we're not eligible for the collective deal but the cheapest for us saves us £140 over a year.

Is it worth it to switch now or will similar cheap deals be around in feb when the current tariff runs out?

Also why are we not eligible for the collective deal - is it because we have a higher than average usage or some other reason?

Thanks for any advice am clueless about this!
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

There no doubt will be cheap deals always around but it's up to you whether you want to save money now as well. I'd switch if the savings really are that much.

For the deal you have to have registered by a certain date to be eligible. Maybe it's that.

    £156 a month!! Wow that's a lot of money!!

If your likely to save more between now & February than the exit fee then switch. Don't forget to look at cashback too....

Thanks good advice I'll take the saving!

Oakdene it is a lot, I blame my husband  it must be because we have a big-ish house, not sure what to compare our usage to tbh or how to reduce our usage :o

I'd start by wearing a jumper :rotfl:joking of course. I appreciate that we probably have massively different sized houses/occupants but I spend £60 p/m on both Gas & Electricity & our house is a three bed house & I'm not one of these that switch off every socket when its not in use...

:o not that different then.. We have a 5 bed extended semi and there are 2 adults and a toddler..

I turn off lights when not in use etc. I think it must be the heating we have it on a lot and in every room when it is on. Time to go round turning off a few rads and closing a few doors maybe..

WARNING - People need to be aware of this - There is something Cheap Energy Club don't tell you when your switching. I'm afraid for many it is neither quick or easy - Many of us have our gas supplied by an IGT (Independant Gas Transporter). You won't become aware of this until to try to switch. Equally when I used Cheap Energy Club to change from British Gas to Ovo neither Ovo or Cheap Energy Club told me this. An IGT can take 14 weeks to change and while that is happening you won't be billed for your gas so when the change does happen, which in my case took exactly 14 weeks you suddenly get a demand for 3 months gas which won't previously be calculated into your direct debit. After weeks of waiting it took me many phone calls and emails before I could get the answer as to why nothing was happening with my gas account. Its all very well for MSE to claim that switching is quick and easy but they are not telling you the truth. Many people change because they are on a tight budget and to not know that you will not be billed and then suddenly get a demand for 3 months gas can be crippling..... I don't here Martin Lewis or MSE shouting about that ! :(:(
