I may be wrong but I believe you now have to apply for a blue badge via the Government - linkapply-blue-badge
My mother had to when she renewed her badge - the council said they no longer send out their papers
If you are unsuccessful they will then decline the badge but if you are borderline they will invite you in for an interview - they being the council

    extra added from the link
You can ask them to reconsider your case if you don’t think all the important information you provided was taken into account.
You can also re-apply if your mobility problems become more serious

Don’t hurry, don't worry and be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

The only reason it say's 50 metres is because it's one of the questions they don't ask 20 metres. I'm in a hell of a lot of pain all the time never mind walking 20 or 50 metres lol. You will understand with back pain especially you can't put yourself anywhere sitting or standing. I can't wait for the next lot of facet joint injections.

I'm currently off sick from work and have a stage 1 options meeting coming up because I'm off sick :( I can't do right for doing wrong I'm trying hard to go to work but I'm seriously struggling now. I can't afford to give up work my wages just about cover the monthly bills my husbands wages helps us live day to day.

Should I get my doctor involved see if they would write to them too?

    They do....

    e. Can stand and then move more than 1 metre but
no more than 20 metres, either aided or unaided. 12 points

You have to fit the descriptors, you cannot adjust/alter your condition for the descriptors to fit what you believe you deserve/want.

    Good luck

    Sorry

But I'm back to Ames's original suggestion about asking for an extension and going to see CAB

Alice Holt is right about the likelihood of an MR overturning a decision but this is becoming more complicated. Given this I'd suggest a face to face is more likely to be helpful than an ongoing online discussion

Thank you very much Neil, I'll try to get in to see the CAB, I'll come back some time and let you know how it goes, thank you for your help :)

To qualify for a blue badge through mobility you have to be unable to walk for more than 20 metres without being in pain. You have stated in your MR that you can walk 50 metres so do not think you will qualify that way.

My doctor filled in a form that was sent to her from the DWP stating that I could not walk 1 metre without being in pain let alone 20 metres.

I had a procedure on Monday on my spine, today is the first day that I have not worn a morphine patch and not needed Tramadol for probably three months so I know what you mean.

    Edit

To qualify for a blue badge I am not sure you whether have to be in receipt of standard or enhanced mobility payment, I originally received my badge when I was on low rate mobility so I am not sure.

You need to get 8 points on the physically moving around question to qualify for a blue badge. So standard PIP which was a mixture of physical and mental, or was entirely mental, wouldn't qualify.

In your MR above you state " you can't reliably walk more than 50 metres without being in pain and discomfort" but now you're saying you can't walk 20 or 50 metres. This to me sounds like you're contradicting yourself and i'm not being nasty here, i'm trying help. What you should put on your MR is how far you CAN actually walk. Meaning if you can only walk 1-2 metres then put this. Good luck.

the bit about 'can't reliably walk more than 50 metres' is the PIP wording. The descriptor is can walk more than 20 but not more than 50 metres. The best advice for claiming or appealing is to tailor your answers to the descriptors. So even if your limit was 21 metres the wording you'd use would be 'can't walk more than 50 metres', and qualify it by saying how much you can walk. So no contradiction.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
