Residents management company - how many members per property?

Hi all,
I'd be grateful for some advice. We have a set up where there are seven houses in a Mews (courtyard). Each homeowner has a 999 year leasehold over their property and a share in the freehold of the whole courtyard, via a residents' management company.
Our management company is limited by guarantee so I understand we should have a register of members but we don't need to inform companies house about a change in membership. No-one I've spoken to has been able to lay their hands on our register of members so there's a chance it's missing.
I've co-owned one of the properties with my sister for the last 5 years. Now I'm married and my wife is buying out my sister's share. What I'm trying to understand is whether my wife needs to be added as a member of the management company? It doesn't seem right that only I should be a member but it also doesn't seem right that our house should get two members and two votes just because we're married. Is it possible for my wife and I to be joint members? In which case would we just need to update my membership details?

Read the terms of reference / articles of association of the company - I can't.
But it most cases it is one member per property (or at least 1 vote per property).0 -
I'm in similar set-up and I've always taken it as fair that it's one vote/one say per house
- otherwise houses that had more than 1 person in would have more than their fair share of the decision-making and be able to exert undue influence to have things their way.
When that isn't the case - it tends to create total stalemate (voice of experience time....).0 -
Okay, thanks both. The articles of association make clear that there is only one member per household. Now I just need to deal with the lack of member register!0
