UPS parcel delivered to wrong address (500km away)

Options
I bought a phone (£470) recently, but didn't like it after trying it for a few days. As I was within the 14 day return period, I decided to return the phone - The company asked me to return the phone to an address in Poland.

I booked a courier on UPS via parcelsplease. On Monday I got a notification from UPS tracking that the parcel was delivered. This morning I followed up with the moblie company to check on when the refund will be processed and they claimed they are still awaiting return of the device.

I went straight to the UPS site to check the tracking details and town name where the delivery was made is 500km away from the address on the return label.

I'm in a panic situation right now as I think the compensation for lost parcel is only £60 as per parcelsplease website.

I've notified both UPS and parcelsplease - but if the parcel was indeed delivered to the wrong address, is there any other way I have to recover my loss?

  • Can't see any way you'll get the cash value of this phone, unless UPS manage to retrieve the 'phone and send it to the correct address.

How much did you insure it for with UPS?

From reading the opening post, I would assume that the OP stuck with the inclusive £60 cover for loss or damage rather than pay an extra £24 for £400 of cover.

Did you pay for it by credit card? Not sure if section 75 covers this eventuality but if you did, it might be worth checking this out.

Didn't have additional insurance in place. So I guess I will only be able to claim £60 if the package is not recovered.

No it won't. Chargebacks and section 75 claims are not insurance policies.

Unless op can recover it, unlikely, they've lost a lot of money!

An expensive lesson now learnt op
