    Just use the chrome browser?

Or Firefox. The Windows version has a built-in PDF reader.
  • Looks like it's going to be Sumatra.
    Thanks everybody for input.

Unfortunately there are a few sites mostly hmrc ones that insist on acrobat and reject foxit. Don't know if they reject others.

Not come across anything on HMRC that insists on Acrobat filing my own or business taxes.
  • People have been so kind and helpful, so, just wondering, are there any alternatives to Adobe Flash Player out there?
    Thank you.

Not really. HTML5 is set to replace Flash, as Flash is old and insecure. But, these aren't compatible with each other, so if a site uses Flash, you really need to have Flash Player installed to be able to see the content. (HTML5 is built-in to web browsers, so you don't need a separate add-on.)

Some sites are using a mix of HTML5 and Flash. YouTube, for example, used to require Flash, but is changing to HTML5. If you try to access a video and don't have Flash installed, it will show the HTML5 version instead. In fact, HTML5 might be the default on YouTube now.

A company return which requires security in the pdf. Tried it with Foxit (but not Sumatra) and it was rejected. The notes did say Acrobat and nothing else and to start with I didn't believe it!

    Quite an amusing oxymoron.

Just for info it's been official government policy to use ODF since 2015:

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
