I have a Vista 32 bit OS, Service Pack 2. I have had continuing problems downloading updates. However last month I left my computer on all day and, sure enough, Windows Updates appeared and I was able to download and install them.
However, yesterday, I did the same thing, my computer was on for thirteen hours searching for updates, but after that time, zilch, no updates available.
In theory Windows should still be providing support until April 2017, but it really does look as if they have given up on this particular older version of their product.

MS really should have done the kind thing and taken Vista to vets to be put out of it's misery much sooner, it's cruel to keep an animal (and owners) suffering for so long.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
There was the usual monthly update. I updated two machines this month and had to leave them running for a couple of days set to download automatically and they eventually did.0

I love these Vista bashers. Pray, tell us exactly what it is you don't like about Vista as eloquently as possible.
TIAYou know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I agree - Vista has an undeservedly rough reputation, frequently from people who talk about CPU utilisation percentages without realising things like prefetch (and garbage collection, etc) use redundant cycles to improve the user experience, particularly relevant on the CPUs of the time. And a lot of the same people who refused to upgrade from XP after it fell out of support. But then some people don't maintain their homes or vehicles either.
As for Vista, there are good reasons to be thinking of upgrading, but it's also ok to push back a year or so and upgrade OS when the hardware croaks. OP is doing the right thing by wanting to check about patches, all the more relevant as Vista ages - if it were a child, it'd be in senior school now (in human years) or enjoying retirement (in computer years)0 -
I haven't had any since July. What's more it doesn't search for a short while and then say there's nothing. It just keeps searching forever until I get bored and stop it myself.0
