Paypal Credit Card.Is it only for Paypal emplyees or Millionaires??

Hi this is my first post on the Money Saving Forum I,ve read alot of peoples posts and the info is priceless. So hello to everyone here.
Here is my 2pence worth.
I wanted to get my self a Paypal credit card as they give benefits to ebay sellers who pay their ebay fees with the Paypal card.I want to sell a few things on ebay and this Paypal card looked pretty good with the ebay fees helpout and an online account management etc.So I appied online Paypal sent the normal email reply saying if they needed more details from me they would ask for them to be provided,I thought they might ask for a photocopy of mt passport and driving licence to be uploaded to them.Any how I waited 3 days and they turned me down. They sent a letter by post which explains nothing it just gives a general "You were turned down and we donot have to tell you why excuse".This was about 5 months ago toady is 16 sept 07.So after Paypal turned me down I applied for a Halifax credit card online they sent me a letter saying goto one of their branches with my passport and driving licence and a utility bill and ask the bank staff to fax photocopys through to credit card head office.I did this and 3 days later they said I could have the card with a £4000 credit limit.I also have a Barclay card with a high credit limit.I have never had CCJ's and I hardly used my Barclay card but when I did I always paid the bill in full to avoid paying interest.I think my credit history is clean, well I know it is.So here's my problem if anyone on here knows a similar story, why would paypal have just turned me down flat I also have an ordinary Paypal account for about 4 years now with no problems and have had my Barclay card registered on the paypal account.I know this has nothing to do with the paypal card application process but it is back ground for them to check up on.If the Halifax can say YES to a credit card and I donot even bank with them.So this was 5 months ago so 4 days ago I reapplied to Paypal on the UK site only to be turned down again they never emailed me saying can you phone us or can you provide proof of identity just turned me down flat.Anyone got any similar stories about Paypal's credit card.I heard a while back that Ebay were going to issue an Ebay credit card which would interest me also,as I would want to use it to sell some things on ebay and get the cheaper ebay fees which the paypal card offered aswell. But the Ebay credit card seems to have disappered can't find out anything about it.Thanks for any replys or info you give me.Thanks:confused:

  • Maybe you simply didn't "fit their profile"

Different cards have different criteria, for example if company x thinks you will pay off your balance every month they could turn you down as they will earn no interest..
  • Paypal is quite strange in regards to who is selected to receive their cards or not, and there is no real formula to explain it.

This also goes with their debit cards. Paypal indicated when the debit card program was first introduced that the cards would be available to long-standing account holders, yet people who have been members for years have never received the "Debit Card Request" link within their account. Just the same, members who were only with Paypal for a few months have received the card with no problems.

They are a finicky company at best, but these days in order to do any sort of business online (on or off Ebay for that matter) you need to learn to live with them.

I wish you the best, and hopefully when EBay introduces their card you get a better shot at it.

Different lenders have different criteria. just because you have been accepted by one lender does not automatically follow that you will be accepted by another.
